ZAGREB, June 25 (Hina) - The first comprehensive tourist guide on
Croatia in more than a century was launched in Zagreb on Thursday.
The guidebook, published by Masmedija and the Miroslav Krleza
Lexicographic Institute, purports to show all of Croatia's tourist
destinations and many interesting holiday resorts.
It includes many illustrations as well as maps of larger cities and
towns and plans of important monuments.
There are also articles on protected natural heritage, sea quality
and protection of the environment in the Adriatic region.
Text in the chapter titled "All about Croatia" contains important
political, geographical and historical information, and the guide
also has a tourist map of Croatia.
"Hrvatska - Turisticki vodic" ("Croatia: Tourist Guide") first
appeared publicly on Croatia's Day at Expo '98 in Lisbon. By the end
of the year editions in English and several other languages will be
released as well as a compact disc version.
Croatia's first tourist guide appeared in 1891 and 1892. A
contemporary version was launched in 1971, but it included only the
Adriatic area.
