ZAGREB, 21 June (Hina) - The northern Adriatic town of Porec, the
island of Bol and Vodice have scored the most points in Tourist Star
1998 action, aimed at assessing the level of preparedness of
Croatian towns for this tourist season.
Porec, Bol and Vodice are followed by Novi Vinodolski, Cavtat, the
island of Hvar, Novigrad, Vrsar and Rovinj.
The best prepared towns in inland Croatia are Bizovacke toplice
(Bizovac Spa), Samobor and Plitvice lakes, followed by Zagreb,
Virovitica, Djakovo, Stubicke toplice, Daruvarske toplice,
Koprivnica and Istarske toplice.
The action included 54 towns on Croatia's Adriatic coast and
islands and 27 towns in its continental parts.
Tourist Star 1998 was organised by the Croatian news agency Hina,
Croatian Tourist Association and Croatian Chamber of Commerce.
The towns included in the action were judged by various criteria
including traffic signalling system, public areas and pools, bus
and train stations, gastronomic offer, tourist information system,
sport and entertainment, shopping opportunities, hotels etc.
