OSIJEK, June 17 (Hina) - The President of the National Trust
Establishment Committee Vesna Skare-Ozbolt, her deputy Ivica Vrkic
and Assistant Interior Minister Josko Moric on Wednesday visited
Osijek where they met representatives of the Croatian Returnees'
Association and local officials to discuss reconstruction and
return.
The security situation in the Croatian Danube River region is good,
Skare-Ozbolt said adding that the Croatian authorities would do all
they could to identify the killers of two Croatian police officers
on the Danube River and provide additional security measures on the
Croatian-Yugoslav border.
Skare-Ozbolt also announced a meeting with representatives of the
Centre for Mine-Removal in Osijek.
The president of the Croatian Returnees' Association in Osijek
County, Josip Kompanovic, warned that out of 62 employees in Beli
Manastir city administration only eight were returnees from
Osijek.
Discussed were also tenancy rights of Croatian citizens of Serb
nationality.
Asked about the reconstruction of and return to Vukovar, Skare-
Ozbolt and Vrkic answered that the state still had to do a lot in
order to make Vukovar a city of returnees.
