ZAGREB, May 13 (Hina) - Croatian President Franjo Tudjman Wednesday
handed credentials to Croatia's Ambassador to Canada Andrija
Jakovcevic.
Tudjman told the ambassador he expected him to perform his
responsible duty in Croatia's interest and to the benefit of
relations with Canada.
These relations are particularly important due to the large number
of Croatian emigrants there, the President said, pointing out these
emigrants had enormously contributed to the establishment and
development of Croatia.
Ambassador Jakovcevic said it was an honour to act in the interest
of Croatia and Croatian emigrants in Canada who, he said, have very
strong ties with their homeland.
Also present were Deputy Foreign Minister Ivo Sanader, Tudjman's
advisor for foreign affairs Neven Madey and head of Tudjman's
cabinet, Gordan Radin.
