BRCKO, Mar 12 (Hina) - Police in the north-eastern Bosnian town of
Brcko has been on a higher degree of alertness since morning, the
office of the multi-ethnic police in Brcko said Thursday.
The reason is the announcement of an arbitration decision on the
town's fate, expected to be disclosed Sunday by international
commissioner for Brcko Robert Owens.
The higher degree of alertness envisages the prevention of unrest
in the town and stronger police patrols. All measures have been
adjusted with the International Police Task Force in Brcko.
The IPTF is also on a higher degree of alertness, but officials of
the international community point out they are only prevention
measures and that no unrest is expected in the town and the
surrounding area.
