REGIONAL CONFERENCE ON UNION RIGHTS BEING HELD IN ZAGREB

( Editorial: --> 3468 ) ZAGREB, Feb 20 (Hina) - A three day regional conference on union rights, organised by the International Confederation of Free Trade Unions (ICFTU) commenced on Thursday in Zagreb with 40 union experts from 15 countries participating. The conference host is the Association of Independent Trade Unions of Croatia (SSSH). According to the leader of the international department of SSSH, Jasna Petrovic, in Croatia union rights are not especially rigorously violated, but their disregard exists. That means, she added, that in Croatia union delegates are being dismissed, authorities are preventing public protests from being held, and the government has set up arbitration in the distribution of union property.
