BH SOON TO GET ONE REGISTRATION PLATES

( Editorial: --> 6861 ) SARAJEVO, Jan 23 (Hina)- Ministers of Interior Affairs of Federation BH and Republika srpska have reached an in principle agreement on the design of a single registration plate for the whole of BH. Signing of a final agreement is expected next week. The single registration plate should facilitate the freedom of movement and ensure an unrestricted cross-border traffic between the entities. Newly appointed Minister of the Interior Affairs of Republika srpska Milovan Stanković and his collegaue from the BH Federation Mehmed Žilić met on Friday in Sarajevo at the office of High Representative. The meeting was also attended by High Representative Carlos Westendorp and his Deputy Jacques Klein. Interior ministers of two BH entities de facto adopted a design that had been already proposed by High Representative. According to the design,the BH registration plate will not feature names of towns, but only a combination of six digits and one of the seven letters that are common to both the Cyrilic and the Latin alphabets (e.g. 000-A-000). Launching of the registration plate has been unofficially set for 2 February, and car owners will have until April to replace old plates with the new one.
