Addressing reporters ahead of the beginning of Croatia Summit in Dubrovnik, the minister said that upon receiving the notification, the ministry would take all the necessary steps it was obliged to take under the law.
The land forces are being currently commanded by Kruljac's deputy, Brigadier General Zvonko Peternel.
Kruljac was to travel to the United States next week to attend the 15th anniversary of cooperation between the Croatian Armed Forces and the Minnesota national guard. Following the latest developments, the minister said that he and the Croatian Armed Forces' chief-of-staff, General Drago Lovric, would attend the ceremonies.
Kruljac was arrested at the order of the Office for the Suppression of Corruption and Organised Crime (USKOK) on Friday morning.
Police confirmed an investigation was under way but no details were revealed, as this is a case within USKOK's jurisdiction. USKOK was also unavailable for more information.
