ZAGREB, June 29
(Hina) - The registry of the International Criminal
Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia (ICTY) on Wednesday gave its
consent to the inclusion of new members to the defence team of
Croatian General Mladen Markac, whom the ICTY trial chamber earlier
this year sentenced to 18 years in prison for war crimes in August
1995 when Croatian forces retook areas held by rebel Serbs.
According to the UN tribunal in The Hague, the defence team for Markac will be beefed up by London lawyer John Jones and German professor Kai Ambos, a specialist in international law.
Another two lawyers in this team are Goran Mikulicic and Tomislav Kuzmanovic.
