France wants Croatia to become the 28th member of the European Union as soon as possible and supports the swift conclusion of the negotiations, if possibly by the end of June so that Croatia can become a full member of the Union on 1 July 2013, the ministry said in a statement.
To this end, France, together with Germany, has proposed the introduction of a monitoring mechanism upon the completion of the negotiations until the accession treaty goes into force. This will facilitate the further implementation of reforms Croatia is already undertaking in the judiciary and fundamental rights, the statement reads.
Juppe and Jandrokovic will also discuss the situation in southeastern Europe and the development of Croatia-France relations.
