Press centre set up for pope's visit to Zagreb starts operating

ZAGREB, June 3 (Hina) - The press centre set up for the 4-5 June visit of Pope Benedict XVI to Croatia started operating in the Westin hotel in Zagreb on Friday.

The press centre will enable reporters to have access to all information pertaining to the apostolic visit of Joseph Ratzinger to Zagreb, the centre's head, Zvonimir Ancic, was quoted on the www.papa.hr web page as saying.

Croatia is ready for 1,250 media workers accredited to cover the fourth pontifical visit to Croatia.

Reporters from 130 editorial boards from 25 countries are among those who have been given accreditation cards.

The Holy Father's visit will be covered by reporters from Italy, Germany, Poland, France, Austria, Finland, Sweden, Spain, Portugal, Slovenia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, the United States, Russia, and Mexico.

Also accredited are representatives of some 30 television networks, 30 radio stations and representatives of the leading global news agencies.

Alongside many Catholic media, including the Vatican television network Tele Pace and France's KTO TV, also accredited are RAI, Reuters, the Associated Press, ANSA, DPA, ORF, RAI, and Polish TV.

Aboard the plane with the pontiff will be some 50 reporters accredited with the Holy See from all major global media companies.
