The number of councillors to be elected depends on each
municipality, town and county and ranges from seven to 51.
All Croatian citizens who are 18 years of age and have permanent
residence in Croatia have the right to vote.
With the exception of Zagreb, which has the status of a county,
voters will elect members of municipal or town councils and members
of county assemblies.
Zagreb residents will vote only for members of the City Assembly.
Displaced persons will vote at previously organised polling
stations.
Ill and feeble persons will be able to vote upon request to
electoral committees.
Local commissions will announce data on the voter turnout by noon
and by 4 pm.
Polling stations will be open until 7 pm and after the media
blackout is over at 9 pm, first preliminary results will be
announced.
The election threshold for party, coalition or independent rosters
is five percent of votes.
There is a great public interest in the election, which is proven by
the fact that as many as 264 rosters, of which 235 party and 29
independent, are competing for seats in 21 county assemblies.
The election will cost 50 million kuna, to be covered from the
budgets of local units of authority.
