NEW YORK, April 19 (Hina) - Croatia's Environmental Protection Minister, Bozo Kovacevic, is staying in New York this week where he is attending the United Nations' sustainable development commission's ninth session. The main topic of
the session is the role of power and transport in viable development. The commission, established in 1993, is a part of the UN Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC). Croatia has applied for the membership in the commission, and its application will be considered in early May, read a statement issued by the Croatian ministry of environmental protection and zoning. On the margins of the New York session, Minister Kovacevic has so far met Costa Rican Vice-President, Elisabeth Odia, Monaco's delegation and the executive director of the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) Klaus Topfer.
