WORLD BANK TO OPEN REGIONAL OFFICE IN ZAGREB THIS AUTUMN

Autor: ;RMLI;
ZAGREB THIS AUTUMN ZAGREB, March 21 (Hina) - In line with its new policy of self-decentralisation, the World Bank has decided to open a regional office for South-East Europe in Croatia, an official at the World Bank said on Wednesday. The Zagreb-based office will be responsible for the Bank's programmes in Bulgaria, Croatia and Romania. The head of the World Bank department for South-East Europe, Andrew Vorkink, who will be working in Zagreb, said the World Bank's experience with a decentralisation programme which it had been implementing in several Central and East European countries over the past years had proven as positive. The new decentralised structure will enable the World Bank to be closer to countries-clients and other partners, increase efficiency in economic reforms and reduce expenses. The World Bank will keep its existing offices in Zagreb, Bucharest and Sofia.(hina) rml
