Tomcic and the parliamentary delegation he is heading will first
visit Shanghai and its free economy zone Pudong.
The delegation will then visit Beijing, where Tomcic is to meet his
host Li Peng, who visited Zagreb in June 2000.
The two officials are expected to address the strengthening of
Croatia-China relations, particularly in the economy, as well as
China's political and economic direction in the future.
Tomcic is expected to meet other Chinese parliament and government
officials as well.
The Croatian delegation will wrap up its visit to China by stopping
in Hong Kong.
Croatian-Chinese trade is very small, with Croatia's annual import
from China around US$140 million and export a mere two million.
The two countries, however, enjoy good political relations, as
evidenced by Croatian President Stjepan Mesic's visit to China last
May.
