ZAGREB, Nov 23 (Hina) - In his first statement after the announcement of preliminary unofficial election results, Social Democratic Party (SDP) president Ivica Racan said on Sunday evening his party and its coalition partners -- the
Istrian Democratic Assembly, the Liberal Party and the Libra party -- did not win a sufficient number of votes to form a coalition government.
ZAGREB, Nov 23 (Hina) - In his first statement after the
announcement of preliminary unofficial election results, Social
Democratic Party (SDP) president Ivica Racan said on Sunday evening
his party and its coalition partners -- the Istrian Democratic
Assembly, the Liberal Party and the Libra party -- did not win a
sufficient number of votes to form a coalition government. #L#
He said the SDP was satisfied with winning 31 seats in parliament,
but not with the overall result of coalition partners.
The SDP president congratulated "those who will be able to form a
government" and wished the best of luck to citizens with the new
government.
"Whoever wins the election will be faced with major challenges
because we live in a time which requires great responsibility for
national interests and the SDP will know how to support the best
moves," Racan said thanking those who voted for his party.
