The Croatian Association of Trade Unions (HUS) will not support any
political option, because it believes that there still is no party
in Croatia which promotes workers' and union interests.
HUS leader Zdenko Mucnjak said his union would call on its members
to go to the polls and vote for people who had proven capable of
protecting workers' rights regardless of party interests.
The union will inform its members of the incumbent authority's
results and identify its failures. The HUS is dissatisfied with the
revision of the privatisation process, the inefficiency of the
judiciary, poor employment opportunities, and restriction of
workers' and social rights.
The Independent Croatian Trade Unions (NHS) and the Association of
Workers' Trade Unions of Croatia (URSH) will not advise their
members to vote for any specific party. The URSH is considering the
possibility of putting up its own candidates, including union
representatives, students, pensioners and unemployed persons.
The largest union federation, the Federation of Independent Trade
Unions of Croatia (SSSH), has still not defined its position on the
elections, but it is believed that the union will not support any
political option either.
