Speaking after a meeting of the party's electoral headquarters in
the third constituency -- Varazdin -- on Wednesday evening, Lucin
said that until 2000, the then authorities, led by the Croatian
Democratic Union, had mostly tapped the phones of HDZ members in
order to keep them under control. "The current authorities have no
interest in tapping HDZ members' phones," Lucin said commenting on
accusations by senior HDZ officials about phone-tapping.
