ZAGREB, Sept 24 (Hina) - Parliament President and Croatian Peasant
Party (HSS) leader Zlatko Tomcic has said he ordered that an
independent institution be entrusted with the task to investigate
allegations by the Croatian Democratic Union (HDZ) about the wire-
tapping of its offices in the parliament building. #L#
Tomcic said on Wednesday afternoon that he had ordered an
investigation into claims made by HDZ senior official Vladimir Seks
who said earlier in the day that pieces of bugging devices had been
found in his party's offices in the Sabor.
"The accusations made by the HDZ about its being wire-tapped by SDP
(Social Democratic Party) and HSS deserve attention, and should be
seriously investigated. A probe should be launched not only into
the work of parliament services (Sabor security system which HDZ
President Ivo Sanader labelled as the source of the information)
but also into those who make such accusations and who should
corroborate their statements," Tomcic said.
