LJUBLJANA, Sept 1 (Hina) - Slovene MP and vice-chairman of the parliament's foreign affairs committee Zmago Jelincic said Monday that Croatia could not proclaim an exclusive economic zone in the Adriatic and that, due to increased
tensions regarding the matter, Slovenia should withdraw its ambassador in Croatia, Peter Bekes, not just call him in for consultations.
LJUBLJANA, Sept 1 (Hina) - Slovene MP and vice-chairman of the
parliament's foreign affairs committee Zmago Jelincic said Monday
that Croatia could not proclaim an exclusive economic zone in the
Adriatic and that, due to increased tensions regarding the matter,
Slovenia should withdraw its ambassador in Croatia, Peter Bekes,
not just call him in for consultations. #L#
According to Slovenia's news agency STA, Jelincic said Croatia
could not proclaim the economic zone because "it is aware that
Montenegro and Albania could do the same", which would leave
Croatia "without access to the open sea".
Jelincic recommended that the government consider other measures
against Croatia in case it did decide to establish the economic
zone.
