Had working conditions been better and shifts shorter, the police
officer would have been alive today, Zdravko Loncar and Marinko
Misura said, adding that the union had urged Interior Minister Sime
Lucin to improve their working conditions, however, the ministry
had not solved the problem adequately.
The union leaders warned about the high level of stress in the
police profession, the extreme demands it put on officers and
inadequate salaries.
Dissatisfied with the ministry's actions and the lack of care for
police officers, the unionists announced protests in front of the
government building, requesting a ten percent gross salary
increase.
