Thursday an economic zone was a strategic issue for Croatia. #L#
"Due to the existing situation at sea Croatia has been incurring
annual losses of several hundred million euros in the area of
fisheries," Simonic told reporters commenting on recent criticisms
in the Slovene public regarding Croatia's plans to declare an
economic zone in the Adriatic.
The economic zone is an open question which Croatia must solve in
order to protect its interests in such a manner that will not be
detrimental to good neighbourly relations, Simonic said.
Only a day after he met two foreign students who were attacked,
Simonic again condemned attacks on foreign citizens in Croatia,
particularly the latest attack, which involved an 11-year-old
child of a member of the Egyptian Embassy staff, who fortunately
sustained only light injuries.
Preventing such incidents is not only the responsibility of
institutions of coercion or the Ministry of Interior, one should
sensitise the public towards those problems and develop tolerance
towards diversity, he said.
