Ljajic said he had received the information from senior US State Department officials Mark Grossman and Pierre-Richard Prosper during their recent visit to Belgrade.
Mladic received pension despite the pressure of the international community to suspend it, because legal experts in Belgrade saw it as his constitutional right which should not be questioned, Ljajic said.
"I was told that under the existing law this right could be denied only if the pension beneficiary disappears. I was also told that we could not look for a person if we declared him or her missing," Ljajic said, adding that he was not sure whether or not Mladic still received his military pension.
Ljajic said that after the surrender of Ljubisa Beara and Dragomir Milosevic, there were still a dozen ICTY indictees hiding in the territory of Serbia and Montenegro, and added that he hoped that they would also surrender.
