Culture Ministry state secretary Jadran Antolovic said two million kuna was set aside in the national budget for the establishment of the Archive, and that initially the Archive would operate within the Croatian State Archive in Zagreb.
Pero Kovacevic of the HSP said the bill did not guarantee when the Homeland War Archive would start operating. He added the Government had disregarded a parliamentary conclusion under which it was to have prepared the final bill in cooperation with the HSP, which had previously proposed setting up a centre which would collect documents and materials relating to the Homeland War.
Kovacevic also said insufficient funds were earmarked for the Archive and that it would take at least a year to collect documents.
Damir Kajin of the Istrian Democratic Assembly (IDS) said the Archive should be located in the eastern town of Vukovar.
