The memorandum was signed in July by Assistant Defence Minister Jelena Grcic-Polic. Mesic, as the supreme commander of the Armed Forces, was not informed of anything.
Mesic has recently said his advisors will analyse the document and that he will do everything that is necessary if it is established that the chain of command has been violated. Today he said Defence Minister Berislav Roncevic informed him that this had not been the case.
Asked if the parliamentary majority might amend the law to exclude Parliament from deciding about the sending on Croatian troops to foreign missions, Mesic said he did not believe that would happen.
