SARAJEVOSARAJEVO, Oct 26 (Hina) - The city council of Sarajevo on Tuesdaydecided to declare a Croatian university professor and former leaderof the Liberal Party (LS), Ivo Banac, honorary citizen of the Bosniancapital.
SARAJEVO, Oct 26 (Hina) - The city council of Sarajevo on Tuesday decided to declare a Croatian university professor and former leader of the Liberal Party (LS), Ivo Banac, honorary citizen of the Bosnian capital.

The proposal for conferring the freedom of the City of Sarajevo on Banac was moved by a group of prominent Sarajevans. The motion was supported by the city elections and nominations committee.

Banac was proclaimed Sarajevo's honorary citizen due to his political engagement and scientific work by which he contributed to the protection of Bosnian values, a former Sarajevo mayor, Rasim Gacanovic said.

Banac will receive the award soon.
