Speaking at a news conference in Rijeka on Tuesday, Djapic said Croatia should propose the arbitration institution and that he fully supported arbitration.
Slovenia obviously has territorial claims, primarily with regard to the Bay of Savudrija, and problems with Mt. Sveta Gera and Ljubljanska Banka were caused because of Slovenia's ultimate goal of ensuring access to the sea, he said.
Djapic said that the Croatian Democratic Union's (HDZ) nominating Jadranka Kosor its presidential candidate completed the list of serious presidential candidates, on which the names standing out were those of Stjepan Mesic, Jadranka Kosor and Slaven Letica. He said that his party would support Letica, who he believes will enter the second round, and announced the start of his election campaign for November 1.
Commenting on Prime Minister Ivo Sanader's statement to Croatian Radio on Monday that General Ante Gotovina was innocent, Djapic said Sanader should back his statement with efforts to help Gotovina more strongly.
He described as too mild Sanader's reaction to Milorad Pupovac's claim that the obstructed return of property to Serb returnees was a continuation of the policy of ethnic cleansing.
