The only way to settle the border issue at sea is to forward the problem to international arbitration, Jakovcic said welcoming the announcement of the European Union about its wish to help in the procedure.
On the other hand, the land border is completely defined as it is clear that the area south of the St. Odorik canal is a part of the town of Buje, and thus of Istria County, Croatia, he added.
"Therefore I reject all that is being done by hard-liner Josko Joras and his supporters in Slovenia, which I also regard as acts of political provocation," he added.
Jakovcic said he hoped the new Slovene Prime Minister would build different relations with Croatia than his predecessor.
