In a joint statement issued at the end of the two-day meeting, the senior military officials from Albania, Croatia and Macedonia reiterated their countries' commitment to bilateral and multilateral cooperation with the aim of joining the North Atlantic Treaty Organisation.
"Fully aware that the progress of our three countries will be assessed according to individual achievement, we are ready to make joint efforts (...) with a view to accelerating the path towards integration with NATO," the statement said.
The chiefs of staff supported the forming of a joint medical team for the purposes of the NATO mission in Afghanistan, saying that it was one of the priorities of their cooperation at the moment.
The meeting was also attended by guests from Bosnia-Herzegovina, Hungary, Italy, Serbia and Montenegro, and Slovenia.
Also present was Croatian President Stjepan Mesic, who said that the Adriatic Charter was "an important instrument of application of values that will guarantee a safe and stable future in this region."
