"The path of Montenegro to independence remains unchanged, but it is possible for Serbia and Montenegro to remain together in another forms, namely in an alliance as two independent states," Djukanovic said in an interview for the Frankfurt-based newspaper in Serbian "Vesti", which was cited by the media in Podgorica on Tuesday. He said that a solution should be found through talks.
The PM said the public in Montenegro is divided but the majority believed that Serbia and Montenegro should be independent states with a common goal -- European and Euro-Atlantic associations.
The Montenegrin PM reiterated his government's standpoint that the issue of Kosovo should not burden the relations between Serbia and Montenegro, stressing that the authorities in Podgorica did not believe that there was a threat of a domino effect.
