BELGRADE, Sept 2 (Hina) - The Serbian Socialist Party (SPS) and its
followers have secured "tens of millions dinars" for the defence of their
president Slobodan Milosevic at the UN war crimes tribunal in The Hague, the
Belgrade daily Kurir quoted on Thursday one of the party leaders as saying.SDS leader Ivica Dacic told the newspaper that his party fully bore the
financial burden of Milosevic's defence, but declined to specify the costs and
sources of funding.
Another two party officials, Milutin Mrkonjic and Milorad Vucelic, said
that Milosevic's defence was supported by donors and organisations of his
followers.
"I cannot say how much money has been spent so far, but the amount is
measured in millions of euros," Vucelic was quoted as saying.
According to the current exchange rate, 10 million dinars is about
165,000 US dollars.
