The event saw the launching of this year's programme of co-funding
consulting services provided in the introduction of contemporary
public administration systems in Croatia's local self-government
units, which is part of a local self-government reform project the
United States Agency for International Development (USAID) has been
implementing in Croatia for years.
This year USAID will repeat the aforementioned programme, which was
launched in 2003, providing nearly US1 million.
The director of the USAID Mission to Croatia, William Jeffers, said
the reform project would help Croatia meet criteria required for
European Union membership.
Croatian officials said the government supported decentralisation.
