ZAGREB, May 14 (Hina) - A Croatian Democratic Union (HDZ) delegation headed by party president and Prime Minister Ivo Sanader on Friday laid a wreath on the grave of the party founder and first president of Croatia, Franjo Tudjman,
marking the 82nd anniversary of his birth.

"We have come to pay tribute and express our gratitude for everything
he did in creating, defending and renewing independent Croatia and for
everything we achieved in the first ten years while he was at the helm
of the state," Sanader said.
"I think we have matured as a nation and society to pay tribute to our
great men regardless of their political orientation. We in the HDZ are
proud of Franjo Tudjman and everything he did for Croatia and the
Croatian people and for all Croatian citizens who wish to live in the
modern Republic of Croatia, which will be a part of the European
family," he added.
The delegation included senior party and government officials,
including Parliament President Vladimir Seks, War Veterans Minister
Jadranka Kosor, Health Minister Andrija Hebrang, Culture Minister Bozo
Biskupic, Agriculture Petar Cobankovic, Interior Minister Marijan
Mlinaric and Environment Minister Marina Matulovic-Dropulic.
A wreath was also laid by the party's Youth Organisation led by its
president, Margareta Kosec.
