Macedonia on Wednesday after the tragic death of President Boris
Trajkovski in a plane crash a month and a half ago.#L#
Presidential candidates are the present Prime Minister and leader of
the Social Democratic Alliance, Branko Crvenkovski, members of
Parliament Sasko Kadev of the VMRO-DPMNE party and Gzim Ostreni of the
Democratic Union for Integration, and activist of the Democratic Party
of Albanians Zudi Djelili.
Opinion polls give Crvenkovski an edge for the victory. The vote will
be overseen by some 600 monitors from abroad, mostly from the
Organisation for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE), and more
than 3,000 monitors from local non-governmental organisations.
