BRUSSELS, April 2 (Hina) - NATO Secretary-General Jaap de Hoop Scheffer
does not know if Croatia, Albania and Macedonia will be invited at the
June NATO summit in Istanbul to join the alliance.#L#
That is still unknown, he told reporters at the NATO headquarters on
Friday after seven new countries joined the alliance.
Scheffer did not comment further on the expectations of Croatia,
Albania and Macedonia to be invited to join in June.
Speaking of Serbia-Montenegro and Bosnia-Herzegovina, Scheffer said he
did not know if they would be invited to join the Partnership for
Peace programme at the summit, stressing that cooperation with the war
crimes tribunal in The Hague was an important criterion for admission
to that NATO programme.
He said it was evident that Serbia-Montenegro was not moving in that
direction, quite the contrary.
