The delegation informed the president of its position on Protocol VII
and its application to agricultural production in Croatia.
They also discussed the application of the Law on Farmland, with the
delegation presenting a request that farmers cultivating agricultural
land be given preference in purchasing state-owned land under more
favourable conditions, the statement said.
Stressing that Croatia's priority was admission to the European Union,
Mesic said he supported protection of domestic agricultural production
in line with EU rules.
The meeting was also attended by presidential economy and home policy
advisers Dubravko Radosevic and Igor Dekanic.
The delegation was led by Union chairman Antun Laslo and secretary
Stanko Zdravcevic.
