Six war-time political and military Bosnian Croat officials are
charged on 26 counts for crimes against humanity and war crimes
against Bosnian Muslims and other non-Croats on the territory of the
former Herzeg-Bosna in the early 1990s.
The six men on Tuesday entered a plea of not guilty to all counts of
the indictment which was issued on March 4 after a seven-year long
investigation.
Asked about generals Ivan Cermak and Mladen Markac, who surrendered to
the tribunal on March 11 and are waiting on the Trial Chamber's
decision about their request for the provisional release pending
trial, Muljacic said he had heard in the detention centre that the two
generals were also feeling fine.
"We are waiting for the Trial Chamber to deliver a decision," Muljacic
said when asked about possibilities for the decision to be adopted by
the end of the week.
Commenting on the provisional release of the six Bosnian Croats
Muljacic said some time had to pass before the six would be able to
file such a request. He said that ICTY investigators would have to
interview the six men first, because most of them had not been
interviewed.
The Croatian government has already submitted written guarantees
necessary for their temporary release and after the attorneys file a
request, Justice Minister Vesna Skare Ozbolt will be ready to confirm
those guarantees at a hearing, Muljacic said.
