This is a good growth rate, but it is slower than in 2002, when GDP
rose by 5.2 percent. Last year's rise in GDP is considerably higher in
comparison to previous years. For instance, 1999 saw a drop in GDP of
0.9 percent in real terms, and 2000 saw a rise of 2.9 percent in real
terms. In 2001, GDP rose by 3.8 percent.
The decreased growth rate in 2003 in relation to 2002 was affected by
continued reduction of consumer spending and the deceleration of
investment growth rates.
