ethnic Croats in Serbia.#L#
The talks were organised ahead of the announced meeting between the
presidents of Croatia and Serbia-Montenegro, Stjepan Mesic and
Svetozar Marovic respectively, who were to meet in Zagreb on 11 and
12 March, but their meeting was postponed until spring because of the
engagements of both presidents, according to official reports.
The ethnic Croat representatives demanded that the authorities ensure
them the same rights as enjoyed by other minorities in Serbia and that
in the future their representatives be included in Serbian-Montenegrin
delegations meeting with Croatian officials.
The biggest problem is a lack of the logistical and financial support
to the Croat community, and the relevant ministry will try to solve
this through specific projects.
The ministry will appropriate funds for the printing of the magazine
for Croat children called 'Hrcko' and financially support events of
Vojvodina Croats.
The ministry will also organise "A Week of Culture of Croats in
Serbia-Montenegro" in Belgrade.
