The associations state that Fumic should be aware that "the core of
the Croat people, which established today's free and democratic
Croatia, is not made up of 'the remnants of clerical fascism and
Nazism' because Croatia is on the path of democracy".
The two associations further state that it could be concluded from
President Mesic's address that today's Croatia was defended during the
Homeland War exclusively by the children of partisan anti-fascist
forces, which they say "is the exception rather than the rule".
Their criticism, they say, refers to the part of Mesic's address in
which he said: "... your sons established and defended today's Croatia
in the Homeland War".
