ZAGREB, Dec 30 (Hina) - The leaders of the Croatian Social LiberalParty (HSLS) and the Liberal Party (LS), Ivan Cehok and Zlatko Benasicrespectively, signed an agreement on Friday on the joining of the thetwo parties, scheduled for
next February when the new party presidentand leadership will be elected.
ZAGREB, Dec 30 (Hina) - The leaders of the Croatian Social Liberal
Party (HSLS) and the Liberal Party (LS), Ivan Cehok and Zlatko Benasic
respectively, signed an agreement on Friday on the joining of the the two
parties, scheduled for next February when the new party president and
leadership will be elected. The party will be called the Croatian
Social Liberal Party (HSLS).
Cehok and Benasic told a news conference the new united liberal party
would strengthen the Croatian political scene, notably the liberal option.
In late 1997, the then president of the HSLS, Vlado Gotova, left the
party over disagreements with Drazen Budisa and formed the LS in January
1998.
