We have fulfilled some of the promises given two years ago, Sanader told reporters on the occasion of his cabinet's second anniversary.
"The payment of the state debt to pensioners has been a major problem burdening the Croatian society for 13 years and only my government had the courage to start dealing with it, the PM said.
Another big success is the start of Croatia's EU entry talks, Sanader said, adding that this goal had not been an easy one, particularly after March, when the accession talks were unjustly delayed.
Sanader went on to say that his government had not done as much as it could in all areas, notably regarding employment and improvement of living standards. "However, we have fulfilled our main promises," he added.
The PM today organised a lunch at the government headquarters for current and former members of the incumbent government and his coalition partners.
The lunch informally marked the end of another year of the government's term.
Along with international activities and bilateral and multilateral meetings, the government this year held about 70 sessions. The last session was held on Friday and the next one is scheduled for January 3.
During the Christmas and New Year holidays, government members will go on short holidays, with Deputy Prime Ministers Damir Polancec and Jadranka Kosor being on duty at the government headquarters.
