The board, which is chaired by HTV News Programme editor in chief Vladimir Roncevic, said the News Programme was the most dominant source of information for Croatian citizens as well as Croats in Bosnia and the diaspora.
According to the statement, the latest scientific and expert researches by respected domestic and foreign organisations, as well as assessments by independent media experts, show that the HTV News Programme respects professional standards of independent journalism, and that in recent years, in selecting news items, HTV News Programme editors followed public interest instead of sensationalism and tabloid reporting.
In the wake of "serious accusations, smearing and belittling" which recently could be heard not only in parliament, the board of editors underlined that in terms of average professional education, HTV News Programme reporters were considerably above reporters of any other media company in Croatia and that 90 per cent had university degrees. The board added that a high number of News Programme staff were recipients of professional awards.
