SKOPJE, Dec 3 (Hina) - I am a soldier not a criminal and I did not
commit a crime in the battle for Vukovar, Macedonian Army Chief of Staff
Miroslav Stojanovski , who is suspected in Croatia of war crimes in Vukovar in
1991, told a Macedonian daily on Saturday. Stojanovski said he
responsibly claimed he had not done anything that could be classified as a
crime against humanity and violation of international military law.
"Claims that I participated in activities aimed against civilians in
Vukovar are not true," Stojanovski said.
"I am truly sorry for all the victims of the war in the former
Yugoslavia. I was a professional and so were my colleagues on the other side of
the battlefield," Stojanovski said, added that he was not in a position to
make strategic decisions.
