The DSHV, the only political party representing the Croatian minority in the Parliament of Serbia and Montenegro, accused Lazo Vojnic Hajduk of meeting other political parties without its knowledge and support and of failing to promptly address issues of importance to the Croatian community in state, provincial and municipal government bodies.
The proposal for Hajduk's dismissal was one vote short of passage.
Unhappy with the outcome of the vote, some councillors unofficially announced that they would re-initiate the dismissal procedure at the next session of the HNV.
Also at today's session, the HNV elected a three-member delegation that would participate in the work of the joint commission in charge of monitoring the implementation of the agreement on the mutual protection of minorities between Croatia and the union of Serbia and Montenegro.
Councillors also adopted a platform for forthcoming talks between HNV officials and the president and prime minister of Croatia.
