PRISTINA, Nov 19 (Hina) - The international community is against
the division of Kosovo, UN civil administrator Soren Jessen-Petersen said on
Friday, dismissing Serbian President Boris Tadic's proposal to create two
entities in the province, one with a majority Albanian and the other with a
majority Serb population. Jessen-Petersen said he did not know what
exactly Tadic had said, but that if the media reported it correctly his
position clashed with the principles of the United Nations Security Council,
the Contact Group and the European Union.
According to Serbian newspapers, Tadic proposed creating a two-entity
Kosovo during a visit to Moscow earlier this week.
He proposed decentralisation which would result in the establishment of
two entities, one Serb and one Albanian. The Serb entity would have special
relations with central bodies in Serbia, while relations between the two
entities would be regulated by Kosovo institutions.
