PRISTINA, Nov 16 (Hina) - A draft resolution on Kosovo, which the
Serbian government sent to the parliament on Tuesday, provoked negative
reactions in Kosovo since the document rules out any possibility for the
province to become an independent state and insists on the territorial
integrity of the state union of Serbia-Montenegro. Kosovo Prime
Minister Bajram Kosumi said that resolutions adopted by the Serbian parliament
or the government could not produce any effect on Kosovo's future.
Hashim Thaqi, the leader of the strongest opposition party, the
Democratic Party of Kosovo, said the resolution was part of the political
option which had caused the collapse of the former Yugoslavia.
Thaqi said that Kosovo was prepared for the start of negotiations on
the establishment of a state and that it would not accept 'conditional
independence".
Analysts in Pristina have assessed that the latest resolution is a
non-realistic option.
