During talks with Australian Foreign Minister Alexander Downer, Grabar-Kitarovic said the Croatian ports of Rijeka and Ploce could be Australia's gateways to the countries and central and east Europe.
She also pointed to the possibility of using free customs zones in Adriatic ports, and invited Downer to visit Croatia.
During talks with Immigration and Multicultural Affairs Minister Amanda Vanstone, Grabar-Kitarovic said that given Croatia's international position and level of cooperation with Australia, Croatia was interested in reviewing the visa requirements for Croatians travelling to Australia. Vanstone pledged she would consider the matter.
The Croatian minister held a lecture on Croatia's European Union integration and EU enlargement at the Australian National University.
She underlined the importance of a stable Southeast Europe and reforms in EU accession candidate states. She said the Croatian government was determined to carry out reforms in view of increase living standards.
Grabar-Kitarovic, who is on a working visit to Australia until November 10, also met representatives of the Croat community in Canberra and attended the tenth anniversary of the opening of Croatia's Embassy.
