The investment into the 65,000 square metre plant was EUR6.5 million.
Opening the plant, Prime Minister Ivo Sanader said that entrepreneurs like Damir Kiric, the company's owner and director, were people on whom he based his optimism regarding Croatia's swift accession to the European Union.
Sanader said entrepreneurs should be supported because they risked and were the foundation of progress. He urged changing the public perception that successful entrepreneurs were thieves.
Varazdin County prefect Radimir Cacic recalled the considerable engagement of the government and local administration in the creation of conditions for opening the free zone in the northern town.
The plant opened today is the third to be opened in the Varazdin Free Zone after plants opened by Germany's BHS Corrugated and Austria's Boxmark Leather.
