The leadership on Thursday issued a declaration also dismissing all accusations levelled against the Catholic Church and friars.
It most strongly protests against "such an inadmissible and impudent media campaign the crown of which has been the latest statement the Hague tribunal's chief prosecutor Carla del Ponte gave to The Daily Telegraph paper".
The declaration signed by the head of the Franciscan province Zeljko Tolic and 44 friars reads that "it is indicative that every time before a decision on the start of Croatia's (accession) negotiations is to be made, a "case" is made up with an aim of thwarting the final decision and putting Croatia and the Croatian people in the dock".
The Franciscan province also severely criticises "all attempts to revise the recent Croatian history and the Homeland Defence War.
